Web radio station to showcase original British comedy

An internet radio station has been launched with the aim of showcasing new British comedy writers and performers.

Comedy 365 has been created by Brian West, who runs a regular sketch night at The King’s Head in London, and his co-producer Georgina Sowerby.

West, whose stage name is Brian Luff, said: “There are very few ways for new writers and performers to expose their material to a broadcast audience. We hope this move will help change that, and give some talented newbies a taste of writing for a real radio audience. This is a natural extension of what we have been doing with fringe comedy and this is the perfect way to show people the kind of talent that is around at the moment in an accessible way.”

The station will broadcast programmes from 7pm to midnight every night, featuring material from the club nights, as well as musical spoofs and performances from specialty acts.

Sowerby added: “We have been producing live fringe shows for new writers and performers for three years. Comedy 365 is a way of taking some of that new talent and exposing it to a much bigger audience.”

The pair also run comedy company Pepperstock and have courses in comedy writing and stand-up workshops. To listen to the station visit www.comedy365.co.uk
