Pioneering designer Richard Pilbrow (third from right) returned to the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art to celebrate the 40th anniversary of its stage management and technical theatre course, of which he is a co-founder.
Pilbrow, who delivered a talk to LAMDA students and guests on his career in the theatre industry, was joined by (from left) theatre consultant Iain Mackintosh, LAMDA principal Peter James, lighting designer Molly Pilbrow, Theatre Projects’ company manager David Chivers as well as theatre consultant and Stage columnist Anthony Field.
Peter James commented: “When Michael MacOwan decided to introduce a technical theatre course in 1965, he approached Richard Pilbrow, the best lighting designer of his generation and founder of Theatre Projects, to help him to set it up. Together they made it into one of the best technical theatre courses in the country. 40 years later, we were delighted to welcome Richard back to LAMDA, which continues to thrive as one of the UK’s most prestigious centres of technical theatre training.”
