The Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama has launched a capital campaign to raise the £5 million needed to carry out a redevelopment of the school’s premises.
Plans include a four-storey extension at the back of the current site and a new conservatory-style entrance with a box office and restaurant wing built on the ground floor along the front and side of the building.
A spokesperson for the academy said: “Since 1998, our staff and student numbers have grown by more than 60%. Our courses have continually expanded, with new postgraduate and research posts being offered to reflect the RSAMD’s growing reputation as a national and international centre of excellence.
“In order to allow us to continue to provide the best possible education to our students we have to grow and continue to meet the demands of our ever-increasing creative student body. The new development will include a range of rehearsal, practice and ensemble rooms along with a new entrance to the building, box office and a new restaurant.”
