Peter Pan charity radio show to air in hospitals

Published Wednesday 29 December 2004 at 12:50

Radio drama development company Soundstage Communications has produced a special adaptation of Peter Pan to air at hospital radio stations across the UK.

Its repertory arm, Soundstage Rep, performed a live charity show of the radio adaptation at the Garage Theatre, celebrating the 100th anniversary of the first performance of JM Barrie’s classic story. There are also plans for it to be broadcast in Australia and New Zealand.

Company director Jason Rosam said: “The live stage show offered a unique theatrical experience. We effectively invited the audience to join us in the radio studio to watch our adaptation being performed and recorded.”

All profits from the project were donated to Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity and there are plans for further radio drama projects next year. For further details about working with the company visit www.soundstagecommunications.com.

• Cabaret singer and presenter Tim McArthur is to host a Jerry Springer - The Opera themed night on TheatreRadio - the UK’s only internet radio station dedicated to musical theatre. The station is playing music from the production and cast members Ryan Molloy, Carrie Ellis and Benjamin Lake will be in the studio for the event which begins at 5pm on January 7.
