A new musical based on the story of Ike and Tina Turner and featuring their music will premiere at the Hackney Empire this April.
Soul Sister will run from April 14 to May 5 with press nights on April 19 and 20. It will feature songs including What’s Love Got to Do with It, Proud Mary, Private Dancer and River Deep Mountain High.
Emi Wokoma will play Tina Turner and Chris Tummings will perform as Ike Turner.
The show is devised by Pete Brooks and John Miller and directed by Bob Eaton. Choreography and musical staging is by Jason Pennycooke, with design by Pete Brooks and Laura Hopkins. It is produced by Simply the Best Productions Limited in association with Hackney Empire.
