New productions of Henrik Ibsen’s A Doll’s House and Chekhov’s Three Sisters are to headline the Young Vic’s summer season.
Carrie Cracknell, former artistic director of the Gate Theatre, will direct a new version of A Doll’s House by Simon Stephens. The play will run from June 29 to July 26, with press night on July 9.
At the beginning of the autumn, Benedict Andrews will return to the Young Vic with his new version of Three Sisters. This follows his production of The Return of Ulysses last year. Andrews’ production will feature designs by Johannes Schutz and will run from September 8.
Meanwhile, a new play by Sus director Gbolahan Obisesan will play the Clare venue. Mad About the Boy follows a teenage boy and will run from June 6. Young Vic artistic director David Lan will direct the premiere of Blackta by Nathaniel Martello-White in the Maria, which follows “the highs and lows of trying to make it as a black actor – a ‘blackta’”. It runs from October 26.
