Channel 4 commissioning editor David Williams is to join the BBC as the creative director of its entertainment department in the north.
Williams, who is entertainment commissioning editor for Channel 4, will be based in Salford, where he will be tasked with developing new shows for all the Corporation’s channels.
At Channel 4, David has commissioned Made In Chelsea, Tool Academy, Dirty Sexy Things and Playing It Straight and was also responsible for all Big Brother and Celebrity Big Brother output.
BBC head of entertainment and events Katie Taylor said: “I am thrilled that David is joining the entertainment family at the BBC. With a background in award winning and iconic shows such as Stars In Their Eyes, You’ve Been Framed and Fame Academy, as well as credits on a range of popular shows for Channel 4 such as Big Brother, Shattered and Made In Chelsea, David brings a unique skill set and insight to complement BBC’s inhouse talent base.”
