Whatsonstage 2012 Awards shortlist revealed

Matthew Warchus’ productions of Matilda and Ghost the Musical are neck and neck in the Whatsonstage 2012 Awards shortlist.

Both shows are competing in the best new musical category as well as for the best actor in a musical and best actress in a musical prizes. Each musical has nine nominations.

Warchus and designer Rob Howell have been nominated for their work on both productions in the best director and best designer categories respectively.

Voting for the awards is now open to the public and will close at the end of January 2012. The winners will be revealed at the awards concert on February 19, 2012, at the Prince of Wales Theatre.
