Campbell is launching the company, Noho Film and TV, with Channel 4 commissioning editor for drama, Robert Wulff-Cochrane. Both will be creative directors of the company, which is a 50/50 joint initiative with ITV Studios.
It will begin development on a number of projects in the first half of 2012 and will focus on scripted drama aimed at a young adult audience.
Campbell and Wulff-Cochrane have run the drama department at Channel 4 for the last two years and have commissioned shows such as Misfits, Cast Offs, Fresh Meat, Any Human Heart, Beaver Falls and The Promise.
In a joint statement, they said: “We are incredibly excited about setting up our own production company and delighted that ITV Studios is backing us in this way. We’ve had a fantastic time at Channel 4 and leave behind many great friends and colleagues. We’ve also been lucky to work with an extraordinary array of creative talent and hope that through Noho Film and TV we can continue working with the best writers and directors across theatre, film and television to make outstanding shows.”
ITV Studios managing director Kevin Lygo said: “This joint venture is a new way for ITV Studios to work with creative talent and continue to build our drama output. Camilla and Robert have commissioned some of the most successful and interesting young adult drama in recent years – with their creative leadership we expect Noho Film and TV to quickly develop a strong production slate.”
