Radio 4 commissions shows based on Edinburgh hits

Published Thursday 1 December 2011 at 13:58 by Matthew Hemley

BBC Radio 4 has commissioned comedy programmes based on four shows that were performed in Edinburgh this year.

The broadcaster announced today it has ordered four 30-minute programmes from Chris Ramsey, Thom Tuck, John Osborne and Isy Suttie.

Comedy commissioning editor Caroline Raphael said: “Radio 4 is pleased to be able to bring four really original gems and stand out performances from this year’s Edinburgh Fringe Festival to a wider audience. We scour Edinburgh each year for new voices but are also on the look our for beautifully written and constructed shows that we think can work in their own right on radio.”

Suttie’s show is called Pearl and Dave, while Osborne’s is John Peel’s Shed.

Tuck’s show is called Thom Tuck Goes Straight to DVD, while Ramsey’s is Offermation.

Radio 4 has also commissioned a three-part sketch show called It’s Will and Greg, and I, Regress, written by and starring Matt Berry.
