David Eldridge’s new play The Knot of the Heart will receive its world premiere as part of the Almeida Theatre’s 2011 season.
Eldridge, whose adaptation of Festen opened at the Almeida in 2005 before transferring to the West End and Broadway, was commissioned by the venue to write the play, which deals with drug addictions and family relationships.
The Knot of the Heart will star Lisa Dillon, currently appearing in Design for Living at the Old Vic, and run from March 10 to April 30, 2011, with press night on March 17. Michael Attenborough directs.
Gina Gionfriddo’s Becky Shaw will have its British premiere as part of the season and will feature Haydn Gwynne, who recently appeared as Billy Elliot’s teacher in the West End and on Broadway. It will run from January 13.
Completing the spring season is Edward Albee’s A Delicate Balance, starring Penelope Wilton.
