UK television dramas Small Island and The Street have both picked up nominations for this year’s International Emmy Awards, which recognise excellence in programmes produced outside of the US.
Small Island, made by Ruby Television, is nominated for best TV movie or mini-series, while ITV Studios’ The Street is up for the best drama series award.
The Street actor Bob Hoskins has also received a best actor nomination, while Helena Bonham Carter is up for best actress for her turn as Enid Blyton in the BBC drama Enid, made by Carnival Film and Television.
Other UK nominees include Shaun the Sheep, which is up in the best children’s show category, and 9/11 - Phone Calls from the Towers, which has been nominated for best documentary.
At the ceremony, to be held on November 22 at the Hilton New York Hotel, Simon Cowell will also receive the 2010 International Emmy Founders Award, in recognition of his contribution to television programming.
