Published Thursday 5 August 2010 at 18:22 by Alistair Smith

Siobhan Redmond has been cast in the Edinburgh Festival Theatre’s stage adaptation of The Secret Garden.

Redmond, who has recently appeared in the National Theatre of Scotland’s production of The House of Bernarda Alba and the Royal Shakespeare Company’s Dunsinane by David Greig, will feature as housekeeper Mrs Medlock.

She is joined by Danish musical actor Caspar Philipson as Archibald Craven and Graham Bickley best known as Joey Boswell in BBC comedy series Bread, who plays the role of Dr Neville Craven. Meanwhile, Norman Pace features as Ben Weatherstaff, the gardener.

John Stalker, chief executive of the Festival Theatre, said: “I am thrilled that Siobhan is joining The Secret Garden company. She is a towering figure in British theatre and along with all the other superb members of our cast our audiences are promised a veritable garden of delights at the Festival Theatre this Christmas.”

The Secret Garden will run at the Festival Theatre from Thursday December 9, 2010 to Saturday January 8, 2011, before transferring to the Princess of Wales Theatre in Toronto, Canada.
