Donmar to screen King Lear as part of NT Live

The Donmar Warehouse’s forthcoming production of King Lear will be broadcast to cinemas across the world in a partnership between the venue and National Theatre Live.

Michael Grandage’s production, starring Derek Jacobi as Lear, will also tour the country following its run at the venue from December 3 to February 5, 2011.

The eight-week tour will take in Venue Cymru in Llandudno, Belfast Opera House, Glasgow Theatre Royal and Hall for Cornwall among other venues.

King Lear will be screened in more than 300 cinemas across the world on February 3 as part of National Theatre Live.

Gina McKee and Ron Cook are among the cast for the play, which also stars recent drama school-graduate Pippa Bennett-Warner as Cordelia.
