International show in four languages to premiere in London

A company including actors from China, the UK and Sweden will stage the world premiere of their new work, Re-Orientations, in London in September.

The show, which explores topics as varied as China’s single-child policy and homosexuality, will be performed in English, Mandarin, Swedish and Kannada. The cast themselves do not share a common language.

For Re-Orientations, the British company Border Crossings has collaborated with Shanghai Dramatic Arts Centre. It was conceived and is directed by Michael Walling and has been in development for two years.

The show will run at London’s Soho Theatre from September 5 to 25, with press night on September 9. It is the third in a series of devised plays – Orientations was staged in 2003/4 and Dis-Orientations played in 2006.
