Caroline Quentin, Warren Clarke and Rebecca Front are to star in the BBC’s forthcoming adaptation of Richard Crompton’s Just William stories.
The series, which will be shown on CBBC and BBC One, will also star Denis Lawson, John Sessions and Bruce Mackinnon. Daniel Roche, who is best known for appearing in the BBC sitcom Outnumbered, will play William.
CBBC controller Damian Kavanagh said: “We are thrilled to have attracted such a wonderful blend of established stars and exciting new talent to breathe new life into these much-loved stories. I can’t think of anyone better than Daniel Roche to bring loveable rogue William to the attention of a new generation.”
The series, adapted by Men Behaving Badly writer Simon Nye, will be directed by Paul Seed and will have a score composed by Oscar-winning Stephen Warbeck.
