Louise Jeffreys steps up to become Barbican director of programming

Louise Jeffreys has been appointed to the newly-created role of director of programming at London’s Barbican Centre.

The appointment follows the announcement that the venue’s artistic director Graham Sheffield is leaving to take up the position of chief executive of the West Kowloon Cultural District Authority in mid-August.

Jeffreys will take up her new post on August 1 and will be responsible for the formulation and delivery of the Barbican’s artistic programme.

She is currently the head of theatre and arts projects at the Barbican and has worked for the venue since 1999. Her previous roles include administrative director at Nottingham Playhouse and technical director at English National Opera.
