His version of All I Ask of You, from The Phantom of the Opera, was chosen by a panel of judges including performer Helena Blackman as the winning entry from a very high-quality shortlist of ten.

Loynes wins the chance to record a song on the forthcoming album The 100 Greatest Musicals, produced by Silva Screen Records, alongside tracks by stars such as Lesley Garrett and Dave Willetts.

Entrants were able to record from a selection of three songs in either the male or female category, drawn from the Silva Screen Records back catalogue and available on the Pure Solo site.

Following the member vote, the final choice was made by a trio of judges including Blackman, Silva Screen manager of new media and music production Rick Clark and The Stage’s assistant editor Scott Matthewman.

The organisers, Pure Solo, will be contacting the runners up today.

Further details will appear in The Stage.
