Sherlock Holmes play to replace The Fantasticks

Published Tuesday 29 June 2010 at 18:25 by Natalie Woolman

Jeremy Paul’s play The Secret of Sherlock Holmes is to open in the West End starring Peter Egan and Robert Daws next month.

It is due to open at the Duchess Theatre on July 20, following previews from July 15. It follows The Fantasticks at the venue, which closed at the weekend although it was originally booking until September 4.

The Secret of Sherlock Holmes first played to West End audiences in 1988 and will star BAFTA award-winner Egan and Daws, who plays Dr Gordon Ormerod in ITV drama The Royal, as Sherlock Holmes and Dr Watson respectively.

The Secret of Sherlock Holmes is directed by original The Woman in Black director Robin Herford. It will be presented in the West End by Ian Fricker and Richard Temple.
