Sarah Lynch, company stage manager for the Druid Theatre in Galway, Ireland, has been named the winner of the individual award at this year’s National Awards for Stage Management, sponsored by The Stage.
Lynch was selected from a shortlist of 11 stage managers for “co-ordinating the timely delivery of 360 performances of seven different productions in 30 theatres spread over five countries in the last year”.
The Team Award, chosen from a shortlist of seven, was given to the crew on the touring musical of Pete Townshend’s Quadrophenia. The team of Bryan Lawrence, David Nelson, Hazel Price, Jess Banks and Stuart Hillman were nominated by Townshend himself, as well as the American co-producers.
Stage managing director Catherine Comerford added: “I’m delighted the awards are attracting so many good nominations, and pleased that as sponsors we are able to help these unsung heroes receive the recognition they deserve.”
The highest ever total of 54 nominations were received.
