ITV’s An Englishman in New York and Channel 4’s Misfits have been nominated for Rose d’Or Awards, which honour the best television programmes from around the world.

The BBC’s A Royal Wedding and The Ten Minute Tales, broadcast on Sky1, have also been nominated in the drama section, alongside nominees from South Africa and Canada.

Overall, the UK received the most nominations for the awards, taking 48 out of the total 110 programmes nominated.

In the comedy category, nine shows out of the nominated 13 all come from the UK.

Of these, five are Channel 4 shows, including Facejacker and School of Comedy.

The Armstrong and Miller Show, broadcast on the BBC, has also been nominated in this section.

Meanwhile, BBC3’s Ballet Boyz - The Rite of Spring has been nominated in the arts category, alongside Royal Ballet in Cuba, shown on Channel 4, which was also produced by the Ballet Boyz, William Trevitt and Michael Nunn.

Elsewhere, EastEnders spin off E20 is one of four UK shows nominated in the multi-platform category, while in the sitcom category all but one nominated programme is from the UK.

Shows receiving nods here include The Inbetweeners, Outnumbered and Psychoville.

The awards will be presented as part of the 50th Rose d’Or Festival on September 22 in Switzerland.
