Neil Constable appointed chief exec at Globe

Published Wednesday 2 June 2010 at 12:01 by Natalie Woolman

Shakespeare’s Globe has appointed Neil Constable to be its new chief executive.

Constable, who has been the Almeida Theatre’s executive director for more than seven years, will take over from Peter Kyle.

Constable will start work at the Globe on October 11 and there will be a brief handover period with Kyle from this date. Kyle announced in February that he is to retire at the end of this year.

Before joining the Almeida Theatre, Constable worked for the Royal Shakespeare Company in a variety of roles.

Constable is also a governor of the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and a director of Propeller Theatre Company.
