Battersea Arts Centre is to hold the UK’s first major international festival of one-on-one theatre this summer.
The festival, which will include work from around the world alongside new commissions, focuses on theatre in which there is one actor and one audience member. The festival, which is called One-on-One, will run from July 6 to 18.
As part of the programme, Belgian company Ontroerend Goed will present their trilogy of one-to-one pieces together for the first time, and their performance will also mark the UK premiere of the third part of the trilogy, A Game of You.
Other artists and companies featured in the programme include Hanneke Paauwe, Stan’s CafĂ©, Adrian Howell and Quarantine.
Joint artistic directors of BAC David Jubb and David Micklem said that, with up to 200 audience members a night being able to participate in the intimate performances, up to 2,500 should be able to see part of the festival during its run.
