Bristol Old Vic has been awarded £5.3 million by Arts Council England to help fund the long-planned refurbishment of its Theatre Royal home.
Further details of the award and how the money will be used are to be announced at a public meeting at the theatre on April 29. At the meeting, BOV executive director Emma Stenning and artistic director Tom Morris will speak in public for the first time about the theatre’s capital project.
Stenning said: “We are delighted that Arts Council England had decided to award Bristol Old Vic this substantial grant towards our capital project. ACE’s ongoing support is an invaluable acknowledgement that Bristol Old Vic is a precious resource to the region and the cultural landscape as a whole.”
