His play Wet Weather Cover, which is about two actors trapped together in a leaking trailer on a film set, will open at the off-West End venue on April 6.

It will star Michael Brandon, who was nominated for an Olivier Award for his performance in Jerry Springer the Opera, and Steve Furst, who has appeared in Little Britain and Wuthering Heights on TV.

Cotton, who performed the role of Michael Heseltine in last year’s TV biopic Margaret, has previously written for Shakespeare’s Globe and the Royal Court.

Wet Weather Cover will be directed by Kate Fahy, and will be her directorial debut. Her acting credits include BBC drama Silent Witness and Michael Frayn’s Copenhagen on stage.

The play will run at the Arts Theatre from April 6 to June 5.
