HQ Theatres appoint former Hackney Empire man as general manager

Britain’s second largest regional theatre operator HQ Theatres has appointed Stuart Shanks as its general manager.

Shanks was formerly general manager of Hackney Empire, having joined the venue as head of finance and administration in 2007. He said that he was excited about his new role “with the future of the Empire now secure”.

Shanks has also worked with the BBC and Disney Theatrical Productions since he moved to the UK more than a decade ago from his native Australia.

He will take up his new position with HQ Theatres, the theatre division of Qdos Entertainment, in May.
