Two productions of Les Miserables will run simultaneously in London this autumn, as part of the show’s 25th anniversary celebrations.
Les Miserables, which is the world’s longest running musical, will be performed at the Barbican Theatre from September 14 to October 2. The venue is where the show originally premiered in 1985.
Meanwhile, the musical will continue to run at the Queen’s Theatre. It will be the first time that two productions of the same musical will run in the same city anywhere in the world.
The new Cameron Mackintosh production opened in Cardiff last December and is currently touring. It has been directed by Laurence Connor and James Powell.
Les Miserables has been seen by more than 56 million people across the world, in 21 languages. It became the world’s longest running musical in October 2006, taking the title from Cats.
