Richard Jordan becomes Brighton Festival Fringe’s first patron

Producer Richard Jordan has been appointed as the first patron of the Brighton Festival Fringe.

Jordan, who is also a regular Stage columnist, is a regular producer at both the Brighton and Edinburgh festival fringes. He has also produced work in Australia, New York and Brazil.

Heather James, chair of Brighton Festival Fringe, said: “Richard’s appointment as patron is a huge boost for everything we’re trying to achieve at the fringe - he will bring a wealth of knowledge, industry connections and artistic awareness to the role.

“Richard will be instrumental in helping us attract producers and promoters of high quality work to the Fringe, as well as in raising awareness of the festival nationally and internationally. He will be a great ambassador and advocate for the fringe and we are delighted to have his support”

Jordan added: “A potent mix of sun, sea, and shows has contributed to Brighton Fringe’s rapid growth into England’s most significant fringe festival.

“More importantly, the fringe provides a platform for artists, writers, creatives and companies at all levels of experience. It enables them to come from the UK and abroad to try out ideas and to share and learn from each other - and their audiences – and it’s this that makes Brighton a vital event for the UK and global arts economy.

“I am therefore thrilled and honoured to become Brighton Fringe’s first patron and I look forward to playing a part in its continued success”.
