Wicked records its best ever West End box office in 2009

West End musical Wicked has reported its highest grossing year to date in 2009, with the UK box office taking more than £27 million.

This is almost £100,000 more than the 2008 figure. The success of last year brings the total UK box office takings for Wicked to more than £90 million since the show opened in at the Apollo Victoria Theatre in London in September 2006.

Wicked productions are also currently playing in North America, Japan, Germany and Australia. Together, these have grossed more than £1 billion.
