Channel 4 commissioning editor for drama series Camilla Campbell is to replace Liza Marshall as the broadcaster’s head of drama.
Campbell, who joined in 2004 and whose credits include Shameless, Teachers and No Angels, will report to Channel 4 head of programming Julian Bellamy.
Marshall is leaving to join Scott Free UK, the production company owned by Ridley and Tony Scott, as its head of film and drama.
Before joining Channel 4, Campbell worked at Tiger Aspect, where she script edited Rescue Me and Single, and Granada, where she script edited Cold Feet and I Saw You.
Bellamy said Channel 4’s drama had “always punched above its weight” and said that a £20 million investment boost from 2011, which has been allocated from money freed up through the axing of Big Brother, means it is “a key time for the genre”.
“Camilla has been the driving force behind many of our most successful series – from Skins and Shameless to Hollyoaks and Misfits – and I look forward to working with her in her new role,” he said.
