You Me Bum Bum Train, created by Kate Bond and Morgan Lloyd, has been announced as this year’s winner of the Oxford Samuel Beckett Theatre Trust Award.
First launched in 2003, the annual OSBTT award aims to encourage “bold, innovative and challenging projects”. YMBBT was chosen by a judging panel which included Punchdrunk artistic director Felix Barrett and Barbican head of theatre Louise Jeffreys, among others.
The show, in which audience members take an interactive journey created by more than 90 performers, will be staged by the Barbican Centre in a site-specific location in July next year as part of barbicanbite10 and Create10. The award will help fund the production.
Meanwhile, Mother of Him by Evan Placey has been announced as the winner of the King’s Cross Award for New Writing 2009. The play will receive a full production at north London’s Courtyard Theatre in the new year. The King’s Cross Award is now in its sixth year.
