Liverpool Everyman and Playhouse’s production of The Caretaker starring Jonathan Pryce is to transfer to the West End’s Trafalgar Studios next year.

The Harold Pinter play, directed by Christopher Morahan, opened in Liverpool last month and is currently running at the Theatre Royal Bath. It will open in London on January 12 where it will play until April 17.

Multi award-winning actor Pryce stars in the show as Davies, appearing alongside Peter McDonald as Aston. He played the role of Mick in the National Theatre’s production of the show in 1980.

Pryce won Tony Awards for Miss Saigon and Comedians, and an Olivier for Hamlet. His theatre credits include Glengarry Glen Ross, My Fair Lady and Oliver!. His film work includes Tomorrow Never Dies and the Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy.

The Caretaker, published in 1960 and first performed in the Arts Theatre in the same year before it transferred to the Duchess Theatre, was Pinter’s sixth play and first significant commercial success.
