Statistics from Rajar, which measure listening to all UK radio, show that Vaughan and Snowdon pulled in 1.03 million listeners each week in the third quarter of this year.

This was down from 1.15 million in quarter two, but still mean the pair have had the most listened to breakfast show in London for the third time this year.

The figures show that Heart’s breakfast show, hosted by Jamie Theakston and Harriet Scott, attracted 816,000 listeners a week, and that Magic’s Neil Fox pulled in 780,000 a week.

Meanwhile, Heart 106.2 overtook Capital Radio to become the second most popular station overall in London.

It pulled in 1.89 million listeners a week over the third quarter of this year, compared with 1.78 million the same time last year.

Capital Radio, which was the second most popular London station in quarter two - with 1.95 million - fell to 1.82 million listeners a week.

Magic remained the most popular station in London, with 2 million listeners a week.

Nationally, Terry Wogan’s Radio 2 breakfast show was the most popular, with an average of 7.76 million listeners, ahead of Radio 1’s Chris Moyles, who had 7.04 million listeners in quarter 3, down from 7.72 million in quarter two.

BBC Radio 2 had the most listeners out of all radio stations nationally, pulling in 13.62 million listeners a week.
