Online competition launched for opportunity to sing in West End gala

Published Wednesday 14 October 2009 at 17:29 by Alistair Smith

Aspiring performers are being given the chance to appear in a West End gala celebrating the work of young musical theatre composer Michael Bruce.

Speckulation Entertainment, which is producing the event, is asking budding performers to record and upload clips of themselves performing songs by Bruce. The best will be invited to perform at the concert at the Apollo Theatre, Shaftesbury Avenue, on November 1 alongside West End performers Julie Atherton, Helena Blackman, Daniel Boys, Mark Evans, Clare Foster, Alex Jessop, Sarah Lark, Paul Spicer and Finty Williams.

Producers Neil Eckersley and Paul Spicer said: “In a West End void of new talent, what better way to celebrate the arrival of a burgeoning new composer than with an undiscovered new performer? We look forward to watching the entries.”

Bruce was the winner of the 2007 Notes for The Stage competition, organised jointly by The Stage and West End show series Notes from New York.

More details of how to enter this competition can be found at www.michaelbrucesongs.com.
