Keira Knightley is to make her West End stage debut alongside Tara Fitzgerald and Damian Lewis in Moliere’s The Misanthrope this December.
Knightley, who has appeared in hit films including Pirates of the Caribbean and Atonement, will take on the role of Jennifer. She will star opposite Lewis, who will lead the cast in the title role.
Dominic Rowan and Tim McMullan will also join the new version of the play, written by Martin Crimp and directed by Thea Sharrock, which moves the action from 17th century Paris to modern day London.
The Misanthrope will open at the Comedy Theatre on December 17, with previews from December 7.
It will be produced by Howard Panter and Tali Pelman for the Ambassador Theatre Group.
