Jack Delvin named new president of The Magic Circle

Published Wednesday 9 September 2009 at 11:32 by Matthew Hemley

Illusionist Jack Delvin has been named as the new president of The Magic Circle, replacing Ali Bongo, who died in March.

A professional magician for 50 years, he has performed for the Sultan of Brunei and at leading theatres including the London Palladium and Her Majesty’s Theatre.

He has also appeared and advised on television shows such as One Foot in the Grave and Noel’s House Party.

Ali Bongo, real name William Wallace, died at the age of 79, after just a few months as president of The Magic Circle.

Bongo was the inspiration for the character of Jonathan Creek in the TV detective series of the same name starring Alan Davies, and was also known for being magical advisor to Paul Daniels for more than 15 years.
