Northern Ireland’s Arts Council launch drama bursary

Published Wednesday 12 August 2009 at 18:02 by Michael Quinn

The Arts Council of Northern Ireland has launched a new bursary to enable the region’s professional actors to develop their skills.

From a total budget of £10,000, awards of up to a maximum of £2,000 are on offer for actors wishing to take advantage of professional and vocational training opportunities.

News of the Drama Training and Development Bursary, the first of its kind to be offered by the council, was hailed by Richard Croxford, artistic director of Belfast’s Lyric Theatre, as “a welcome development for the local drama community. Northern Ireland has an extraordinary pool of talented actors and actresses and this new funding programme offers them a wonderful opportunity to become even better at what they do”.
