BBC drama Little Dorrit has picked up 11 nominations for this year’s Emmy Awards, with Tom Courtenay and Andy Serkis both receiving nods in the supporting actor category for their performances in the series.
Little Dorrit was co-produced by the BBC and WGBH Boston and has also been nominated in the Oustanding Miniseries category, as well as in the Outstanding Casting for a Miniseries category.
The show has also received a nomination for its costumes, while Andrew Davies, who adapted Dickens’ book for the screen, is up for the writing award.
Elsewhere, Ian McKellen has been nominated for his performance as King Lear in a television version of the Royal Shakespeare Company’s production of the play, while the BBC’s No.1 Ladies’ Detective Agency has received three nods.
Kenneth Branagh has won a nod for best actor in a mini-series for his role as Inspector Kurt Wallander in BBC1’s Wallander, and Little Britain USA, with Matt Lucas and David Walliams, has been nominated for two awards.
Finally, House of Saddam, a BBC co-production which aired on BBC2 in the UK, has received four nominations, including one for outstanding casting.
The ceremony will take place on September 20.
