Peter Pan’s Kellgren to join Twopence at the Liverpool Empire

Ciaran Kellgren, who has recently appeared in Channel 4’s Shameless and the £3 million production of Peter Pan in Kensington Gardens, is to join the cast of Twopence to Cross the Mersey, when the show returns to Liverpool this October.

The ‘play with music’ will run at The Liverpool Empire from October 6 to October 18. Kellgren is joined in the cast by Celebrity Master Chef winner Mark Monaghan entertainer Pauline Daniels. The show is directed by Ian Kellgren – Ciaran’s father.

“I got a phone call from Rob Fennah whose company, Pulse Records and Productions Ltd, produces the show asking if I was up for it,” Kellgren explained. “I didn’t need a lot of persuading especially when he said who else was taking part. I played alongside Mark last year in Eric’s at The Everyman and had such a great time. Then there’s the fact that my Dad, Ian, directs Twopence so working with him for the first time since I was nine years old will be something special.”

In its 36 performances to date, Twopence has already taken £1.5 million at the box office . The show chronicles the early life of author Helen Forrester during The Great Depression. Producers are also looking to put together a touring version of the show.
