Little Britain star Matt Lucas is to front a new comedy chat show for BBC Radio 2.

And the Winner Is will see Lucas welcome three guests on to his show, who will then nominate the “best, worst, funniest, ugliest and scariest” people, places, songs or films for a set of new awards called The Lucases.

The series, which will be broadcast later in the year, is the first radio comedy Lucas has been involved in since Little Britain, which originated on BBC Radio 4.

And the Winner reunites Lucas with his Little Britain radio producer, Ashley Blaker.

Radio 2 has also commissioned a new series of Jason Byrne’s sketch show, The Jason Byrne Show, which was first broadcast last year.

Lewis Carnie, Radio 2 head of programmes, said: “I’m very excited about Radio 2’s fantastic offering of comedy this summer with both new and returning series. Radio 2 has a rich history of comedy from both established and new stars and, with such a wonderfully talented bunch on the station, listeners will be in for a real treat.”
