Playwright Sam Holcroft has been presented with the second Tom Erhardt Award for up and coming writers
The £5,000 prize, which was launched last year, “celebrates and supports new writing for the stage by providing grants to playwrights who have had at least one play professionally produced, to enable them the time and the facilities to write again for the stage”.
Holcroft has written a number of plays including Cockroach, which was commissioned and co-produced by the National Theatre of Scotland and the Traverse Theatre, Ned and Sharon, which was commissioned and performed by the High Tide Festival, and the short play Vogue, which was performed by the Royal Court Theatre as part of its Angry Now event. She is currently under commission to The Traverse Theatre and the Gate Theatre, London.
The award is supported with funds from the Peggy Ramsay Foundation and named after agent Tom Erhardt, who presented the prize to Holcroft at the Royal Court Theatre today.
