Sion Simon appointed as minister for creative industries

Published Thursday 11 June 2009 at 17:32 by Alistair Smith

Sion Simon, formerly minister for further education, has been appointed as the new minister for the creative industries at the Department for Culture, Media and Sport.

It follows the departure of Andy Burnham and appointment of Ben Bradshaw as the DCMS’s new secretary of state.

Simon will have responsibility for the creative industries, sustainable development and the National Lottery.

He is perhaps best known for being the Labour politician who posed as David Cameron in a YouTube video, mocking the leader of the Conservative party. Simon is Labour MP for Birmingham Erdington.
