Virus prevents Horne and Staunton’s stage return

Mathew Horne and Imelda Staunton will not be returning to the stage for tonight’s performance of Entertaining Mr Sloane at the Trafalgar Studios.

Producers have confirmed that the two lead actors of the show have caught a virus and will be unable to perform tonight.

As a consequence, they will be replaced by their understudies Fergus March and Sharon Eckman.

A decision will be made tomorrow morning about whether the co-stars will be back on stage for Saturday’s performances.

Yesterday, Gavin and Stacey star Horne fell to the floor 15 minutes into the second half of the matinee show. He was treated onstage, before audience members were asked to leave the auditorium. Later that day, Staunton also pulled out of the show after becoming unwell.

A spokesperson for the show explained that customers who attended yesterday’s matinee will be offered tickets for alternative performances, however those who attended last night or tonight will not be eligible for an exchange.
