Williamson and Olivier to join cast of Never Forget

Published Tuesday 24 March 2009 at 17:55 by Lalayn Baluch

Ex-EastEnders actor Shaun Williamson is to star as Ron Freeman in the UK tour of Take That jukebox musical Never Forget, which is set to open at the Manchester Opera House on April 3.

Williamson, who played Barry Evans in the long-running BBC series, will appear in the production in Manchester, Edinburgh and Glasgow. His run will come to an end on May 9.

He will be joined on stage by Philip Olivier, who will take on the role of Dirty Harry until October 3. Olivier is best known for playing Tim O’Leary in Channel 4 drama Brookside.

The cast also includes Aimee Atkinson, Adam Booth, Tom Bradley, Scott Garnham, Kay Murphy, Mark Willshire and Penelope Woodman.

Never Forget is a musical by BAFTA-winning Shameless creator Danny Brocklehurst, Guy Jones and Ed Curtis. It features some of boy band Take That’s greatest hits, including A Million Love Songs, Could It Be Magic, and It Only Takes a Minute.

The production’s UK tour - the second since the show opened at the Wales Millennium Centre in 2007, featuring a different cast - will travel through 21 locations and come to an end on December 5.
