Tim Crouch’s play England, which was first performed at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2007, is to receive its London premiere later this year - in an art gallery.
The show, which was originally commissioned by the Traverse Theatre in Edinburgh and performed at the Fruitmarket Gallery, will run at the Whitechapel Gallery in London from Friday, May 8 to Tuesday, June 16.
England, which explores Crouch’s fascination with the nature of the theatrical experience, stars Crouch and Hannah Ringham, a founder member of London’s Shunt Collective.
It is accompanied by a sound-score by composer Dan Jones.
Since opening in Edinburgh, the show has toured throughout the world, running in venues such as the Andy Warhol Museum in Pittsburgh, the Hugh Lane Gallery in Dublin and the National Gallery of Victoria in Melbourne.
The London premiere is a collaboration between Tim Crouch’s production company News from Nowhere, the Whitechapel Gallery and the National Theatre.
