He May Rock You

Brian May made a surprise appearance on stage at the second anniversary performance of We Will Rock You at the Dominion Theatre.

Proceeds from the gala performance went to Sport Relief, a sponsored event set up by Comic Relief and BBC Sport, encouraging people to run a mile to raise funds for the charity.

According to a spokesperson, Ben Elton has finished writing the sequel to the multimillion pound Queen musical. However the show is unlikely to be produced while the original version of We Will Rock You continues to appear in venues around the world. The production is due to open in Las Vegas in September, Russia in October and Germany in December, while venues have also been confirmed in South Africa, Italy and Japan for 2005.

He said: “Brian May and Ben Elton keep being pushed to try to develop the sequel but there just isn’t the time now. They want this version to open around the world first. The book has been written by Ben but it would be wrong to try to open it while the original show continues to do so well.”
