BBC2 has recommissioned Jonathan Harvey's sitcom Beautiful People.

Production of the second series of the show, which is based on the memoirs of Simon Doonan - the creative director of New York department store Barneys - will begin later this year.

It has not yet been confirmed whether it will feature all the cast from the first series, which included Meera Syal, Olivia Colman and Luke Ward-Wilkinson as a teenage Simon growing up in Reading.

Harvey said: "I am thrilled that the BBC has faith in a show which struck a chord with so many. I can't wait to get back to spending time with a group of such lovable characters again."

Series two has been commissioned by BBC controller of comedy commissioning Lucy Lumsden and Janice Hadlow, BBC2 controller.
