Greg Hicks is to star in the title role of Lucy Bailey’s production of Julius Caesar for the Royal Shakespeare Company, which will open on May 15 at the Courtyard Theatre in Stratford-upon-Avon.
The cast will also include Darrell D’Silva as Mark Antony, John Mackay as Cassius and Sam Troughton as Brutus. The production - Bailey’s first for the RSC - will feature music by jazz musician and composer Django Bates. Bailey’s recent work includes Timon of Athens and Titus Andronicus for Shakespeare’s Globe and an acclaimed production of Baby Doll for the Birmingham Repertory Theatre, National Theatre and West End. Her other Shakespeare productions include Twelfth Night and A Midsummer Night’s Dream for the Royal Exchange Theatre.
Hicks will also play Leontes in RSC associate director David Farr’s production of The Winter’s Tale, which will open on March 31.
