Donmar appoints Bierman as executive producer

London’s Donmar Warehouse has appointed James Bierman as executive producer.

He takes over from Lucy Davies, who has recently become the producer for the National Theatre of Wales.

Bierman has been the Donmar’s general manager since 2006 and took up the role of acting executive producer early last year when Davies went on maternity leave.

He said: “Having worked with Michael [Grandage] and the team in this role for the past nine months, I know just how amazing and unique this opportunity is. It has been a time of significant expansion for the company and I look forward to consolidating that work and undertaking the exciting challenges that lie ahead.”

Since joining the Donmar, Bierman developed the company’s 2008/2009 residency at Wyndham’s Theatre and has worked on a variety on international projects.

The post of general manger at the Donmar will be advertised later this year.
