Scottish arts organisation Giant has appointed Maria McCavana to the new role of artistic director.
A graduate of Glasgow School of Art, McCavana is a working artist and was previously the company’s visual arts director. Under the new role of artistic director, she will be responsible for the company’s visual and theatre arts.
McCavana said: “I want to develop an exciting and passionate programme that encourages children to be creative and engages families in artistic processes that are inspiring and innovative.”
Giant was set up in 1989 to programme activities for children ahead of Glasgow’s stint as City of Culture in 1990. Over the last 20 years it has developed a range of arts activities for under-12s in west Scotland.
